We have a pretty big opportunity to host a Yale Alumni Association Redpath Speaker event in a collaboration with the Yale Club of Buffalo. The speaker is professor Akhil Amar, YC and YL, also a professor at Yale Law. His Wikipedia page is here. The event will be held October 8th, 2026. The reaction from anyone who has seen the profile of professor Amar is the same – the guy is a legal “rockstar”. One nugget from the Wikipedia page: “Amar is the second most-cited American legal scholar still under the age of 70.” Space is limited due to room size so please register early to confirm your spot.
ABSTRACT: Drawing on his current work and research surrounding Frederick Douglass, Professor Amar will bring this history directly into conversation with Rochester, a city central to Douglass’s life, work, and enduring legacy. Through a historical and constitutional lens, Professor Amar will explore the evolving American understanding of equality and the relationship between the nation’s founding ideals, its constitutional development, and Douglass’s powerful vision of American freedom.
